Flying Day 2: Two Identical Destroyers

Current location: Saved in Cyllage after beating Grant with ten minutes left on the clock. Current team:

Concorde - Ember, Peck, Thief, Return
Pidgeotto - Gust, Quick Attack, Sand-Attack, Thief
Spitfire the Gyarados - Bite, Bulldoze, Rock Smash, Dragon Rage
Zeppelin the Drifloon - Gust, Ominous Wind, Focus Energy, Minimize
Kinner the Aerodactyl - Lonely, Pressure, Atk/Speed - Rock Tomb, Bite, Bulldoze, Rock Smash
Arrow the Hawlucha - Naive, Unburden, Atk/Speed -  Karate Chop, Strength, Aerial Ace, Rock Tomb

I tried to get Spitfire up to L20 through the Chateau, but a severe lack of offense and the fact that at low levels, Zeppelin grows like a weed meant that after clearing it out, the fish had one level and the balloon 3. It took to Glittering Cave, including losing out on two Sky Battles, before it got to L19 and I promptly said "Screw this" and hit it with a Rare Candy between the eyes.

Thankfully, I didn't have to spend all my time flying in and out of the back room in Glittering Cave, as the second rock Smashed led to the Old Amber. and we got a quality Aerodactyl on about the 10th reset or so. After that, it was down to Route 10 for a minute, dodging all trainers along the way, to pick up Arrow. (Note: Kinner is the model of Amelia's plane, and the Arrow is a reference to a cancelled Canadian fighter jet. References to Teen Girl Squad are appreciated, but not part of the run.)

It took a bit, but the future Arrow was the first Fighting type on the route, still packing Karate Chop and with a personality I can live with (easiest way to make sure SpDef doesn't come into play: be faster and OHKO everything). After running a train on the Route 8 guys, we went to Route 10 again for some grinding and managed to get bad natures on the other three /Flying Pokemon: Sigilyph (TOLD YOU), Yanma and Emolga while boosting the team to 25.

Of note: I'm trying an experiment here where I'm catching every /Flying type to store useless hold items. By the end game, I want that pocket totally empty except for the Lucky Egg, Amulet Coin, Master Ball and... uh, that's it.

The gym was quite fun, as Spitfire lived up to her name by Dragon Raging everything in sight and Kinner merrily Earthquaked away. Arrow swept out with Karate Chop, and we got the badge. Unfortunately, I had to stick him with Strength for now pending other opportunities (Spitfire's on Surf duty, for instance).

Tomorrow: Korrina goes down and I pick up my final Flyer. Hopefully by end of day he's a Staraptor.
